Sidney Oral Agre, 83, of Glenwood, passed away on February 28, 2026. His memorial service will be 11:00 am, Monday, March 9th at Harvey Anderson & Johnson Funeral Home in Willmar with visitation one hour prior to the service. www.hafh.org
Sid was born on October 26, 1942, in Montevideo, to Sidney Sr. and Margaret “Peggy” (Thomton) Agre. Sidney Sr died two days before Sid was born. Peggy later married Melvin Nelson and Sid and his three sisters grew up on a farm northwest of Willmar. Sid graduated from Willmar High School in 1960. He met Mavis Madsen on a blind date in Willmar, and they were married in 1962. They had two wonderful kids and enjoyed over 60 years of adventure together until her passing in 2024.
Sid was a very talented self-taught mechanic who could fix anything. He began his career at a small repair shop in Spicer. He continued his mechanic career in Renville, working for H&L Chevrolet, then partnering to start 212 Repair, and finally as the service manager for Cenex Oil. A talented woodworker, Sid, created beautiful pieces with the same precision he brought to his mechanical work. Several family and friends have his handcrafted creations, and they will continue to be cherished reminders of his care and craftsmanship. For several years, Sid answered the call as a dedicated volunteer firefighter in Renville, assisting in many fires and accidents.
Sid bought his first corvette and started playing golf at the age of 50 - both of which he pursued with passion. He played golf several times a week at the Minnewaska Golf Club in Glenwood enjoying the challenge and the camaraderie with his golfing buddies, many of which he also played with in Mesa, AZ. He owned several corvettes over the years, preferring convertibles so he could enjoy the wind blowing through his hair. Sid and Mavis relished their many trips through the upper Midwest with their corvette friends.
After retirement, Sid and Mavis spent the summers on beautiful Pelican Lake in Glenwood and warm winters in Mesa. Sid loved his five grandchildren and cherished summers at the lake when they were all together fishing, tubing, swimming, jet-skiing, trying to learn how to waterski, and going to DQ for a treat.
The family would like to thank the staff at Glenwood Village Care Center for their compassionate care during the last few years and Moments Hospice over the last few months.
Surviving to carry on his memory are son, Scott Agre of Longville; daughter, Lori (Rudy) Vigil of Willmar; grandchildren, Regan Agre (fiancé, Tyler Metzger) of Bashor, KS, Emilie Vigil (fiancé, Kevin Stolka) of St Cloud, Michael (Monika) Agre of Las Vegas, NV, Katie Vigil (fiancé, Troy Nelson) of Atwater, and Keller Agre (fiancé, Caitlin Franchini) of Atlanta, GA; great-grandchildren, Lola, Ada, Alex, Meadow, Lincoln, Ben, Kat, and Olivia.
